IS CHRISTMAS INCLUSIVE AT JORNAL NACIONAL?
BETWEEN THE NEOLIBERAL DISCOURSE AND THE (SUPPOSED) BRAZILIAN RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY

This papers performs a analysis of Rede Globo’s Jornal Nacional, aired between December 19th and 24th, 2022, the period includes the celebration of the birth of Jesus, for Christians. Jornal Nacional has a heterogeneous target audience, bringing together people from various socioeconomic and cultural classes. Therefore, this work proposes to discuss and understand the dissemination of content related to Christian Christmas. The methodological theoretical body of Discourse Analysis and Newsmaking were activated. Thus, the aim is to find out whether there is inclusion in the coverage of Christmas and what aspects the station's discourse on the subject is based. The results show that, even if it proposes to be a national news program, the coverage of the religious event demonstrates a neoliberal and culturalist position, but not very open to religious diversity.
