AUTHORIAL STRATEGIES AND CREATION OF FICTIONAL WORLDS
BRIDGERTON’S NARRATIVE PACT

This article discusses the creation of expanded fictional worlds, based on the authorial strategies of three agents – the producer Shondaland, the streaming platform Netflix and the writer of period romances Julia Quinn. We thus map the process of migration of the Bridgerton universe from the pages of books to television screens and the shared practices of authorship. The complexities of audiovisual and contemporary reception conditions take serial fiction to another stage, which accentuates the narrative pact between spectator and work.
